I guess things could be worse. 27 June 2012
My attendance at Working Links in Cardiff is getting to be a routine, twice a week for jobsearch and in many ways it's sad because I seem to be getting used to the routine. It's part of my week like signing every fortnight. Now that Caradog House has closed I am now signing at Charles St Jobcentre instead. Maybe because I am a veteran of the old New Deals under Labour it doesn't seem much to ask for to attend for an hour and a half twice a week instead of attending five days a week for thirteen weeks from 9am to 4pm. I do apply for plenty of jobs and at my age I don't have that many years left before I reach the retirement age. People are still phoning in giving excuses for why they can't attend but sadly they are only making things worse for themselves in the long run. Some I am sure are using every reason and possibly testing how far they can go before sanctions are threatened. In my experience of Working Links it is fairly relaxed in the office although I was appalled and complained in the first few months I attended the Work Programme about the treatment I received from them but now they treat me much better.
