I walked the twenty five minutes or so for my Working Links appointment and sat down for an hour and a quarter for jobsearch. Of course I could have done it at home but they do need to justify their money by at least seeing us on the odd occasion. At the end I was given my appointment for next monday and told that if I wanted to I could come along anytime and use the computers if they are available. As the staff know full well I have my own computer I would have to be very lonely to want to go to Working Links more than I have to. I guess they have to say something to show a friendly face even if it is behind clenched teeth. To be fair some of the staff are not too bad but one or two still give me the evil eye as I have on the odd occasion been forced to stand up for myself and people don't tend to forget that. Monday doesn't seem a good day for jobsearch as I usually look online at home over the weekend so very few new job vacancies appear on monday when I am at Working Links. It looks like any serious training will only be paid for if it is certain to lead to a job. The Working Links office is definitely busier than it used to be. It will be interesting to see the success of the Work Programme in Cardiff when they eventually release the figures.
