29th July Pulp & Paper

by Simon - 13:05 on 31 July 2008

This days load is coming out of an old pulp and paper factory that shut down a couple of years ago to the cost of over 700 jobs and to a place the size of Prince Albert it must of been a very big Loss.  I was told that one of the political parties was going to inject 170million dollars to get it up and running again! Not surprisingly they didn't get voted in.  I can never understand why politicians no matter where you go In the western world are always happy to give tax payers money to a privatised company so they have the opportunity to turn over a profit for the company and the shareholders for no risk but to tax payers money and livelyhoods for the employees.  I wonder, if they were willing to spend that money on the people that lost there jobs, in a pay matching what they earned retraining scheme in a more viable business or college/university education.  If they would of faired any better in the election.  Which could of resulted in each employee earning up to a maximum off 60 thousand dollars a year for 4 years I would of thought far better than giving the money away!  Sorry I digress I do go off on tangents at times I blame my mother for that.   Booking in time was for 10am I was there at 8 just incase they took pity on me and load me early, which they did yeeeha jesters dead! Hell where did that come from! Anyway I reversed under the overhead crane at 9.45. Hey 15 minutes is 15 minutes.  Good bunch of lads there gaffer Neils wifes family were scottish, Maclellans didn't tell him Alistair Sellar who probably kicked them off there land to make way for that famous scottish beastie the sheep was a distant relative of mine. Dam spoil a good load!  After some up a bit, long a bit in a bit, bit more right drop her there if you please old chap. What? Down, oh ok then load was complete.  Few straps on to to take me to the scale to check way puuuurfect 77000lbs put some more straps on a few chains tarped it nice and easy no wind and only  2 tarps required.  Left around 3pm next stop steinbach mb
