Telepathy & Trucking

by Simon - 15:44 on 16 August 2008

It doesn't matter who you drive for, being a truck driver there are some weeks when you could drive 24/7 and it wouldn't be long enough.  This is not one of those weeks!

My 2nd drop on Monday was closed all day and I planned being in Abbotsford Monday night, it wasn't to be.  I parked at Sicamous BC late Monday morning, it was a beautiful warm sunny day and there was a golf course close by so after brunch I played a few holes.

My dispatcher sent me a load assignment which I refused as the pickup was for tomorrow aft, I wouldn't be unloaded until wed morning.  I managed 5 drops on the tuesday just and delivered the final one on Wed morning.  Went to the Petro at Delta for fuel, a shower and breakfast at Macaws.

Usually after you unload they send you your load info via the satellite but nothing came through for me.  Surprisingly, there had been a cock up, I was meant to load the load I had refused on the Monday whenever I was empty, but due to my telepathic skills not being up to scratch, I didn't realise this.  As there are 3 collections Surrey Abbotsford and Salmon Arm, I will not get the 3rd pick up on till friday and will not get unloaded in Oak Bluff Winnipeg till Monday morning.

That will give me just under 1600 miles for the week, not very many when you need to average about 500miles a day to make it worth your while financially to be out all week living in a truck.
