Conventicle Service.

The Old Cameronians, medals and badges gleaming and clad in Douglas tartan, gather around the cairn in memory of their proud regiment!

Joined by their families, members of the public and guests of honour a service in the form of an old style regimental conventicle, the all clear is given by the parade commander to the Reverend Robert Cleland that the piquets are posted, no enemy is in sight, the service may proceed!

Pride of place before the alter is the sword of William Cleland, Covenanter veteran of Drumclog and Bothwell Brig battles and first field comander of the Cameronians at the battle of Dunkeld 21st August 1689. Reverend Cleland being a descendant of William.
