List Of Events.
9am, Many old Cameronians and their Families have travelled from near and far Started to gather in a village in rural Lanarkshire called Douglas, home of the Cameronians. Greeting each other with firm handshakes and a hug or two. The car park by Douglas Victoria Bowling Club becomes a mass of Douglas Tartan, the tartan of their regiment.
9 30am, The Cameronian Regimental Flag is raised once again over the village as it does every year.
10am, Church service in St Brides Church (please note not the Old Kirk in centre of village).
Between church and Conventicle times you may wander the village, have a cuppa in St Brides Centre or local cafes, visit heritage museum, various Covenanter sites and more.
The flag will be flying by this at the Cairn on the edge of the moorland, Covenanter Country close where the regiment was raised and where it disbanded fifty years ago.
Some will have visited the statue of James Douglas, the Earl of Angus, paying homage to the son of the mighty House of Douglas who in part raised their regiment all those years back in 1689.
2pm, Conventicle starts at Cameronian Memorial Cairn in the grounds of Douglas and Angus Estates. The congregation has gathered, the all clear has been given to the Padre, the service will begin.
The estate grounds are a working farm area so please respect estate grounds farm animals and wildlife.
