Week Commencing 7th August

Sunday 7th.  The Top Ten team travelled to Wrangham Hall for their second game in this year's competition but they found their opponents much too good on the day, winning only the singles and losing the other three games.

Monday 8th.  For the last game in the Senior League we travelled to Caldercruix to play against Glengowan, with both of the clubs still in contention alongside Airdrie BC to lift this years title. For a while it looked as though we would take full points off our opponents but by the end of the game we had to share the points with our hosts. Meanwhile, Airdrie shared the points in their game against Clarkston and with these results it means that Airdrie are the champions for 2016. They finished with 36 points, Glengowan have 35 and we ended up with 33.

Tuesday 9th.  The first round proper of the MBA Championships were played this evening with all six entrants taking to various greens throughout the area. Our gents pairs had success at Airdrie. The triples also won their game but John McH lost his singles match. Janie Kyle won through in her single handed game at Dunbeth. The ladies pairs lost to Baillieston by 1 shot at Clarkston and the triples lost to Glengowan in their game played at Baillieston.

Early notification we have received is that our Div 4 team in the Lanarkshire League sits clear at the top of the division by one point with two home games still to play. Keep it going boys!

Thursday 11th.  After the blip last Sunday in the Top Ten the gents team got back to winning ways this evening at Calderbank. Our opponents in the final of the Laney Triples were Airdrie Central and both teams put on a magnificent show of bowling with the scores virtually tied from first end to last. The weather was far from kind and the games all lasted well over three hours so it was almost pitch dark before the final bowls were played and Caldercraig were crowned 2016 champions once again.

Friday 12th.  The green was closed this evening so the Lanarkshire League games due to be played have been re-scheduled for next Wednesday at 6.30pm. All members selected for last night's games are selected to play on Wenesday. It has been confirmed that we are holding a 1 point lead at the top of Division 4. Also note that next Wednesday's Rink Night has been cancelled.
