News - w/ending 2nd July

The Seniors got the week off to a great start by completing a 4-0 victory over Springwells at Caldercraig in the league. This result means that after 9 games we are 1 point behind Glengowan at the top of the league and 1 point ahead of Airdrie in 3rd place. It couldn't be much tighter.

Tuesday. The A&CBL continued tonight and in the penultimate game of Div 2 we were away to Whifflet for what prooved to be a hard fought game. We lost one game by 3 shots, drew one and won one by 2 shots. This means that Whifflet were winners by 4 points to 3. The other gents of the club played the first round of the Laney Triples this evening with Clarkston as the opponnents. At home we drew one and lost the other but both triples won at Clarkston so we progress to the next round where we meet Airdrie.

Note: with reference to last weeks Div 2 results and the query we made about Glengowan being awarded 18 shots and 7 points for their non played match against Gartsherrie, I have had it confirmed that the committee of the A&CBL have overturned the decision and have removed the extra point awarded to Glengowan. The 6 shots per rink has been confirmed. The amended table will appear with tonight's results added.

We learned tonight (Thursday) that our Lady Champion Janie Kyle has once again been selected to play for Lanarkshire Ladies in this years matches. Well Done Janie. (Note Janie has also reached the final  of the Lanarkshire Singles championships which will be played on Friday 8th July at Baillieston.)

The club played Clarkston (away) in the Lanarkshire Top Six competition on Thursday night and came away with a 2-1 victory after wins by the pairs and the triples. The next game is against Glengowan next week.

On Friday the Lanark League Div 14 team were at home against Burnhead but only managed to win one of the three games played. The Div 4 team had greater success away to Whitemoss at East Kilbride where they won all three games and earned the maximum points.
