Bowling News for week ending 12th June

The gents lost their second round match in the Millennium (5 singles) competition played at Blantyre on Sunday and in the SBA District Championships on Monday, our junior representative lost in the under 25’s singles, but the pairs and triples progressed through to the District Final. The Seniors league campaign continued against league leaders Airdrie and a share of the points was a fair result. In the Tuesday night Airdrie League matches, the gents were away and the ladies at home against Glengowan. The gents, who are the current league leaders, stuttered to a 7-2 defeat but the ladies fared even worse when they failed to get a single point in their game.

In the District Finals of the SBA Championships there was joy for the triples of Scott McIntyre, Alan McGuiness and David McIntyre who won a closely contested game, but the pairs unfortunately failed at the last hurdle before Northfield. None the less, the Club are proud to have representatives at the National Finals once again and we wish them good fortune.

On Wednesday the club were hosts to the District Championship Finals (the ¼ finals) of the Lanarkshire Bowling Association. Many thanks to the small army of members who had worked in preparing the green and gardens in advance and to those who worked hard on the night to make it a resounding success.
