The Monklands Bowling Association Championships took place on Saturday 31st August 2024 At Coatdyke Bowling Club in glorious sunshine.

Jim Purves was Caldercraig's representative in the Gents Singles Championship against Alan Stewart of Glengowan. Jim started off strongly, and continued to play excellent bowls throughout to record a commanding victory becoming Gents Singles Champion. Jim's cheerleading crew were present giving the crowd a rendition of "Sparky,Sparky give us a song" prior to Jim delivering his victors speech.

In the Ladies Triples Championship, Caldercraig's representatives were Elaine Moxen, Nan Jenkins and Shona Chisholm. Their oponents were a strong Calderbank triple. Caldercraig's triple took a narrow lead into the last end where Shona played a fantastic last bowl trailing the jack to put the match beyond their opponents reach, recording a fantastic victory.

In the Gents Triples Championship, Gavin Chisholm, Kyle McGuiness and Derek Phillips overcame a strong Airdrie Central Triple to lift the Gents Triples title with an excellent Display of bowls in a keenly contested final.

A large support from Caldercraig were treated to a magnificent display from all the players representing our club.
