OPTIONS APPRAISAL:
The ACWSC drew up an 'Invitation to tender and brief for woodland options appraisal'. This document provided background information about the community and its interest in creating a community woodland. It also outlined the needs of the community, and served as a brief for the appointed consultant.
A copy of the brief can be downloaded here.
'Margin' were appointed to carry out the options appraisal, evaluating the capabilities of the various blocks of woodland in Ardross to serve as 'community woodland' as specified by the requirements voiced in the questionnaire returns.
Our thanks go to Margin who completed their report, a final copy of which is available to download here.
For those with dial-up internet connections, the report has been broken down into the following three components for ease of downloading:

Summary of the Report:
As part of the Options Appraisal, Margin assessed the 3000 hectares of woodland within Ardross which would be eligible for community woodland. Based on the information provided by the community's response to the questionnaire, the 13 areas of woodland were assessed based on their suitability and potential to meet the aspirations of the community.
The report itself gives a comprehensive breakdown of how this assessment was conducted, and identifies the strengths/weaknesses of each woodland with regards to each criteria, and we would encourage everyone to refer to the full report, including appendices, for an accurate understanding of the results.
