I spoke to Gwyn this morning at around 1130. it was as I suspected the weather that changed their mind. they experienced several days of wind of over force 6 from the South East( just as we at Mission Control had predicted!!). From that direction it was right on the nose, to try for Horta was proving very difficult and the easy option was to take the more comfortable course into Lajes.

they will be resting up for a few days until I can see a window of opportunity in the weather for them to continue on the last leg.

in the meantime they are stocking up with water, fuel and fresh food and veg. Moral is good and I am sure they will find time to visit some of the museums and libraries in the area (if you believe that then you are indeed a little slow!!)
