Danny Coutts, the coxswain of the Invergordon Life Boat, has kindly loaned us some equipment for the trip so we thought it would be a good idea to try and raise some money for the RNLI.

We are asking you to pay £1 and guess how long the journey will take from Miami to Cromarty in days, hours and minutes. There is a small cash prize for the nearest answer.

The time taken will be calculated when underway on passage, which means it does not include rest days in port or moving between moorings in port. The plan is to leave Miami on 6th May 2008 and arrive in Cromarty on 30th June 2008 with 7 days worth of stopovers. This equates to 49 days or 1176 hours but given the weather it is not likely to be the right answer.

The final result will be given by the ship's log book and will be published on this site.
