The Skipper & Crew

Gwyn Phillips is the Owner and Skipper of "Sassie Lassie", 56 year old Gwyn is from Rosemarkie and is an accomplished sailor of many years and has completed the RYA Yachtmaster. He has done several "Delivery Trips" which include Madeira and the Canary Islands. Gwyn's other boat is a Searider 26 "Evening Light"

Bill Paterson,  a near neighbour of Gwyn's,is a 68 year old ex Merchant Seaman who has sailed the world in "Big Ships", he was also on the Fishery Protection Cruisers for a number of years. Bill Diesel experience will be an asset during the trip. Bill's own boat is a Sunrider 26 "Tunnag"

George Selvester, who will celebrate his 65th birthday during the crossing is an Ex Royal Navy Man, (also engine room branch) George has been sailing since 1960 having first learned during basic training for RN. George did his his RYA Yachtmaster in 1989.George's own boat is a Westerly Griffon 26 "Heart of Gold"

Neil Brooker, 55 Lives in Cromarty.he is a Chief Petty Officer (Engineer) in the  Royal Fleet Auxiliary, the service that keeps the Royal Navy supplied. Neil has been at sea for many years and served in the Falklands conflict. He has been around boats all his life but only recently changed to Yachts. His own boat is a Macwester Rowan 23 "Sea Fret"

Alex Davidson, 71, is a Canadian who lived for many years in Cromarty before returning to Canada after the death of his wife Lonna.
Alex will be doing the leg from Miami to Bermuda, where Neil then joins us for the remainder of the trip. Alex has sailed with all of the others many times in the past but is a glutton for punishment. Alex has no boat of his own.
