Euroscola
19 March 2018

Our club was delighted to welcome Katrina High, who was sponsored by the club to attend the Euroscola programme. She gave an interesting and very assured  talk, ilustrated with photographs and a video, about the experience. Here are her own words:-

Experiencing Euroscola has been a huge turning point in my life and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to represent Scotland.  Understanding more about the importance of languages, the diversity of cultures and the role of the European Parliament has made me eager to take part in current affairs. During the trip I had the opportunity to meet amazing new people and discover the beautiful city of Strasbourg whilst learning about the European Union. Debating current affairs in French with the MEP at the European Parliament opened my eyes on how essential the European Union is. Debating issues with teenagers from many European countries was fascinating – everyone including myself were so passionate about the future of Europe and this was so reassuring. I also surveyed the public on their thoughts about Scotland and the importance of Scotland in Europe. It was intriguing to understand different perspectives on the European Union and made me realise how important uniting countries is. Upon return to Scotland, I am driven to make a difference. This amazing opportunity has completely changed my mind on my future studies as I am now extremely excited to apply to university to study International Relations. I thank the Anstruther Rotary Club enormously for their generosity, support and their determination to make a positive change in our community.
