All Change!
25 June 2012

The Anstruther Rotary Club’s meeting of 25th June marked the end of the 2011 – 2012 year. It was also the formal occasion when club president Derek Mathie handed over the reins to Roderick Skinner, president for the next twelve months.

Derek spoke warmly of the club’s work. Although a relatively small club, much has been achieved and he took the opportunity to thank everyone for their support and contribution in achieving so much for charities and good causes locally, within the UK and also internationally.

But even more importantly it was also an opportunity for the club to thank Derek for his contribution. In Rotary clubs a president serves for one year only; however due to unexpected and quite unusual circumstances Derek found himself in the position of leading the club for much longer – for the better part of two terms. He did this with style and great leadership and the club expressed its thanks for his exceptional support with the presentation of a bottle of very fine malt whisky.

In taking up the presidential role for the coming year, Roderick expressed very well the thanks and appreciations of all club members. In the picture Derek (on the right) and Roderick are seen sharing a moment of humour, although it must be said that Derek looks the more relaxed!
