At The Rockies
05 September 2022

Following a Summer break and 'Zoom' meetings the club was back together at The Rockies on the 5th September. As always it was good to be able to share fellowship again.

After a meal, club president Ian McBain spoke of hopes and plans for his first year in office. As well as restarting programmes that had been on hold due to Covid, Ian particularly wants to focus on environmental matters. It is a personal interest as well as a new area for Rotary.

There was also a report on the Coastal Path Charity walk which took place on the 4th. A popular event that was just not possible in 2020 or 2021. The weather though was not so good for early starters, with the glorious coastal scenery of the East Neuk of Fife obscured by low cloud. The afternoon was better and, most importantly, although fewer in number, walkers said how great it was to be out again.  Those who have taken part will know that all money raised is donated to registered charities – and each walker decides which charities to support.

A final report was about the 'Gavel Competition' which the club won against all comers. This takes the form of hard-fought sporting competitions against other Rotary clubs in our District. Our triumphant team of athletes are pictured below, with the splendid trophy.
