KDR 14 – 2 Thorner

 

After a weekend break due to the Leeds fest, the lads we're keen to get back to it, this time they welcomed Thorner to Deighton Barr.

 

With the gaffer asking his lads to start the game at a high tempo and take the game straight to Thorner, the lads responded extremely well with Mikey and Slater winning the ball and getting it moving around the pitch. It was Deighton who opened the scoring with only 5 Min's gone; Mikey Large was the first to respond to the keepers parry from Nickleson’s shot. This seemed to open the flood gates with Thorner not being able to get any where near the neat passing game of the Deighton lads. One soon became two with a Ross park back post header then three with a cracker of a free kick from 30 yards by Alex wooler- this seemed to just drive all of the Deighton boys on to score even more with Dicko, Mikey, Ross and Nickleson making it 9-0 at half time.

 

The game was finished off by then and the Thorner lads upped their game with nothing to loss and pulled one back with a shot that left the Deighton keeper(sutty) stranded. But, deighton pushed on and added another three with Maccas finding the net to round off a nice hat trick for himself. This brought changes from the bench with Collings and denim coming on for Maccas and Mikey who were both outstanding.

 

It wasn’t long before Deighton made it 13 with denim hitting one of his trade mark left foot shots straight it to the top right hand corner; then soon after rounding the keeper to get his second of the game.

 

Deighton welcomed new signing Josh Buckley to the side who was a rock at the back from start to finish.

 

An outstanding performance from every single player on the pitch for the Deighton side. It's always good to score lots of goals but as a team we know we have a long way to go and a lot of hard work to get where we want to be.

KDR came out on top in this local encounter thanks to goals from Ross Park (2) and Liam McEntwee.
