Requital was sweet to the Rays last night as Shields stood still, full of confidence and purpose on the mound for 5 2/3 innings at Tropicana Field as he delivered the cup of hemlock to the visitors from it. Indeed, skipper, Joe Maddon, had pinned Rays hopes on James Shields when it was decided that James was the man for the big game, and he was not disappointed as Shields rose above the tension generated by the loss of the opening game and produced a good enough performance to be considered a good one to win any game. Albeit, Dan Wheeler and David Price combined to close the game for the Rays the latter conceded a sole home run in the eighth to Eric Bruntlett and as the Rays' fans huffed and puffed, the Phillies scored again in the ninth a single run which amounted to disquietude in the terraces. In the end, Price put all the pieces together to the puzzle and the Rays were victorious.  Final score:   Rays   4   Phillies 2
