LET US LEARN ENGLISH

Introduction:

I found myself embarrassingly positioned the other day while telling a story to my wife of how everybody laughed at me in my English as a foreign language class when I told my teacher that I had wet myself in the rain while having my friends for lunch in the garden. After such an appalling mistake I decided to compile this file so that foreign students of the English language, especially Spanish – speakers, did not have to experience my dreadful embarrassment. What this experience taught me was that if one does not have a good command of the English language one is bound to put one's foot in it time and time again.  I must confess, though, that I feel much better now that the laughter has ceased since I made the resolution of getting to grip with  the English language.

Indeed, one of the most common mistakes that students learning English make is to choose the wrong preposition in, both, writing and speech. I most sincerely  hope you'll get the chance to have a look at this file that I have put together in different stages and tell me what you think of it.  This file is full of Phrasal Verbs in English, of course, and from my personal experience I found this subject to be a very difficult one in the English language for foreign students to get to grip with, especially, if you are a Spanish speaker, particularly in its colloquial use of verbs followed by prepositions or particles. My reasoning for compiling this file is simple, I believe it is an excellent and much-needed aid aimed to meet the needs of both foreign students and professionals that use English as a tool of communication at college or work. Absolutely, it is certainly not the final product by any means since it is an idea that is still in the womb but it can only be born if it is induced to come out and prompted into existence. Nevertheless, I think it is a wonderful approach to something that could be a very,very helpful learning aid for those who wish to learn more about phrasal verbs, prepositions and common idioms in english.
