William Leigh Strudwick Clay, always known as "Bill", was born on 18 September 1933, the third son of Johnny Clay and Gwenillian Mary nee Homfray
Bill married Gill Clay, a third cousin.

Bill died on 16 August 2025. On 2 September 2025 he was buried next to his parens in the churchyard of St Hilary.

Gillian Ella St, Claire Clay was born in Johannesburg on 14th June 1937, the eldest child and only daughter of Gervas Clay and Betty nee Baden-Powell

On ? Gill took a ride on the mile-long Zip-wire in North Wales
On 10 June 2023 Gill did a "WingWalk" to raise funds for the 1st Cowbridge Scout Group, for which she has been a Beaver Leader for some years.
On 21 February 2025, Great Western Railway (GWR) honoured Gill by naming an Intercity Express Train after her. The special "Great Westerners" ceremony, held at Swansea station, celebrated Gill’s lifelong dedication to Scouting and marked the 100th anniversary of Scouting in Wales. This event was part of GWR’s "Great Westerners" Programme, which celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities.
Over the years Gill has taken on numerous roles within the Scouting movement and on ? was awarded the prestigious Bronze Wolf by the World Scout Committee – the highest accolade in global Scouting. She is the 399th recipient, the first was her grandfather, Lord Baden-Powell, in 1935.
On 2025 Gill did a second "WingWalk" to raise funds for the Scouts of Wales. This time it included a "Loop the Loop". Bill was there to watch, standing with the other spectaters, but was taken back to his car in his wheelchair.
