OUR VALUES

These qualities of a person are universally recognised to be at the heart of all world religions, and secular ethical systems as well.  Unless you declare otherwise, we shall assume that, as a participant in Forum of Faith affairs, you will share these values with others:

Integrity:  Acting in accordance with your expressed beliefs and values.  Transparency and openness.  Allegiance to justice and fairness to all. Consistency, reliability, sound judgement, equity.

Honesty: Speaking truthfully, admitting mistakes, acknowledging the possibility of being wrong, not taking anything that isn't freely given. Recognising one's tendency to prejudice and bias, and taking steps to avoid unfair discrimination.

Fidelity: Keeping one's promises, loyalty to other people, to institutions, and to the law. Faithfulness in relationships, faith in each other, and faith (for those that believe in a Supreme Being or Creator) in our God.

Charity: Kindness, sensibility, compassion, mercy, forgiveness.  Respect for life, applied to all living creatures.  Harmlessness.  Generosity, tolerance and patience. Gratitude.

Responsibility:  accountability for our actions and our inaction and for their effects on others, on ourselves, and on the natural world/the environment.  A sense of duty, and willingness to fulfil it.  Cooperation and teamwork.  Community, inter-dependence, appreciation.

Self-discipline: self-restraint, frugality, moderation in speech and behaviour, decisiveness, resilience, obedience, endurance.   Humility.
