We had a visit today from a group of eight Local Food Apprentices who are undergoing training with the Highlands and Islands Local Food Network (HILFN). The course prepares them for running a full-time business, growing fruit and vegetables for local communities. They are visiting apple and pear orchards this week under the tutorship of John Butterworth, Ayrshire nurseryman who has supplied some of our own 'heritage' apple trees.
