This is a sight we haven't seen before: a profusion of male flowers blossoming on the needle tips of a Chamaecyparis. This is the tree outside our kitchen window on which our bird feeders are attached. At first we thought the tree was suffering from a fungal infection until we realised we were looking at colourful new shoots!
