We've enjoyed watching and encouraging a variety of wildlife in our garden, but this morning we saw a heron for the first time. We've watched herons overfly the garden, but we've never seen one in the garden, not even when we had fish in the pond. At first we though this bird could be injured, because he hopped around the garden long enough for me to take a photo. All seems to be well, though, and the heron's away now.

We're back to watching Mama Woodpecker at the nutfeeder getting food for her hungry brood.
