Rain couldn't keep the apple enthusiastis away

The wettest day in a week of a gloriously warm autumn weather didn't deter the keen enthusiasts who came to our Apple Day this afternoon. National Trust for Scotland Gardens Advisor Sinclair Williamson guided two tours around the orchard and lectured on the cultivation of apples. He also brought samples of 50 apple varieties to help visitors with the identification of their own apples.

There were apples to taste and buy, games and stories for the children, an apple and flower arranging demonstration, a quiz and competition, and lots of apple home-baking with tea and coffee served in the garden house.

Over £1100 was raised for the two Cromarty churches: Cromarty Parish Church of Scotland and St Regulus' Scottish Episcopal Church.
