Happily, our amphibian wildlife has not deserted us. Last night, when we opened the kitchen door to let Bramley back inside, we heard some rustling in a clump of mondo grass — and there were two very large frogs or, possibly, toads (it was too dark to make a positive identification). I suspect they were attracted by the wee slugs on the paving stones. A very tasty evening snack!

13.9: I surprised a large frog inside the kitchen this afternoon! I scooped it up and carried outside to safety before Bramley realised what happened.
