Today we had a visit from Elaine Anderson of Highland Birchwoods (based in Munlochy). She is working on the Borders and Highlands Orchard Project which is attempting to map old orchards in these regions (the apple-growing area of Carse of Gowrie between Perth and Dundee has been already well-documented.) If they are successful in obtaining additional money from the Heritage Lottery Fund, they hope to restore some of these lost orchards.

She has discovered the overgrown remnant of an orchard in the grounds of the old Craig Dunain hospital in Inverness. If you know of others, she would be interested in hearing from you and can be emailed at this address.
