We noticed the first frogspawn in late February — at least three weeks earlier than last year. Although we haven't seen much of the frogs themselves (just the occasional 'croak' and 'kerplunk', we noticed some additional clumps of spawn this week. We eagerly await the first sighting of tadpoles. However, I expect (as always) the newts will be first on the scene and the tadpoles' days will be numbered.
