Throughout October we'd enjoyed a view from our kitchen doorway of the leaves on this 'Autumnalis' cherry tree (see entry for 23 October). Imagine our surprise when the leaves started to fall and we discovered a bird nest that had been hidden away throughout the summer. No idea what birds made their home here, though.
