For the first time in several years, Ken cleared grass and debris that had accumulated behind the boulder resting place of 'Capt Reid's mermaid'. (The vegetation had become so profuse that the scupture had almost disappeared from view). The shoreline of the pond looks very bleak at the moment, but it shouldn't take more than a few weeks for the grass to start growing and the marsh marigolds to come into bloom.
