At the weekend we suspected that our nut feeder was supporting more than one woodpecker. For several days, the adult birds had been pecking furiously, flying away and returning in less than a minute. Then, today, Ken saw FOUR woodpeckers on the tree at the same time: a mother pecking and then hopping up to feed her two fledglings — with papa woodpecker watching higher up the tree.
