Of all the images I could have chosen to illustrate the start of a (predicted) spell of warm, sunny weather, this has to be my favourite: one contented dog sleeping by the back door with his head on a tussock of long grass. While Ken and I continue our assault on the endless weeds in the flower beds, Bramley follows us, sniffs and investigates, listens and chases, barks and 'protects', sleeps and ignores.... Just as it was with Rowan, he is happiest with us, in the garden, on a sunny day.
