Our front sitting room has reverted to its former use as a storage room for apples. Many older Cromarty residents remember coming to the "fruit door" (now a window facing onto the Causeway) to purchase fruit from the garden orchard and glass houses. A wide variety of fruits (apples, pears, plums, currants, apricots) were sold from Victorian times until the 1950s.
