The young maids of the 1700s or 1800s who slept in the little room at the top of the house (in what is now my sewing room) would have had a very different view across the bottom of the garden and over the Cromarty Firth. Today, we see a giant wind turbine being assembled at the fabrication yard in Nigg. It is destined to power an oil platform in the Beatrice Field of the North Sea.
