New Dancer Info

The RSCSD page 'What is SCD?' should give you a feel for what SCD is about and some of the links to You Tube videos might also be of interest.

You don't need any fancy equipment or clothing to try SCD and you can come along on your own or with a friend or partner. Just wear comfortable clothing and bring soft flat shoes.

Our group operates a 'buddying' system for new dancers where they are paired with an experienced dancer to help them for their first few weeks. Thereafter,  it's normal to swap partners for each dance.

During the class we tend to walk through each dance (sometimes several times) before dancing it  to recorded music and Susan will guide dancers through the steps and formations/movements as necessary. There's usually plenty of experienced dancers to provide a helpful nudge if needed.

We offer a free taster session for your first night.

If you are interested in trying Scottish Country Dancing it's best to contact Susan beforehand and she can advise you of up to date arrangements for joining our group.

Many of our class don't confine their dancing to Fortrose SCD Group activities. There's loads of scope to do more by :-

  • attending dance organised by other dance groups (we usually try to share transport where possible)
  • going to various weekend schools held throughout the country as well as both Summer and Winter schools organised by the RSCDS
  • attending dance holidays both in the UK and abroad

See the links page for details.

If you have any queries Susan will be happy to give you additional information (phone 01381 621309 or e:mail susan1951mackenzie@gmail.com ).
