Cold Calls
Is there anything more annoying than being phoned up by a complete stranger who wants you to change your electicity/gas supplier?
It seems to occur with increasing regularity.
What I’ve started doing is ask them to ‘hold the line please’.
I then place the phone beside the CD player and give them Fergie MacDonald’s ‘Ceilidh House’ Album.
If they haven’t hung up by the end of track 2 then it’s quite possible there’s a Canadian Barn Dance taking place in a call centre somewhere east of Karachi.
Caught in the Headlights
Our local roe deer seems to have appeared again for the first time in a while.
He seems to think he can just come and go when he feels like it.
Disappears for months on end without as much as a phone call.
Anyway, no doubt he’ll hang around for Christmas and New Year.
