The Traders.
The Traders appear, weather permitting, on the basis of regular traders or casual traders. Some appear just once and move on.
The oldest trader was Goldie. She traded in Wokingham Market Place for decades with her haberdashery stall, age & health has now forced retirement.
Darren Phillips is also an old hand with his flower stall, selling cut flowers and bedding plants.
Joe's Quality Fruits: Joe has invested in a new cover for his gazebos!
Tuncay has been supplying hungry workers with burgers, sausage , egg, bacon and similar food now for over three years. A popular person, he trades under the name of Dream Breakfast.
April Mckiernon with assistance from Dave supplies a range of products from wild bird seed to hoover bags etc. at weekends but now they have retired and Chris Hutt has returned. I shall include a photograph or two of his stall, where he sells wild bird seed and pet food. I have retired the Fur & Feathers website and I'll then replace it with Jabba's new market stall website.
I have been at market for 7 years selling C.D.s and vinyl singles. In the entire Borough, I am the only person who can deal with special orders. I prefer to be seen as a Musician with a market stall one day a week, rather than a market trader.
Ed Phillips, Darren's father runs a stall selling ladies clothes and has done so for years.
Sunny sells mobile phone accessories and has returned.
Kathy runs Shedcraft, selling her husband's hand made woodwork
Butler's services provides weekend beef products and eggs at weekends.
Charlie and Rose Frood sell garden plants and shrubs. They brighten up the Town Centre but take a month off in summer and do not appear in inclement weather.
Dwindling interest in the market has forced out some regular traders lately. Angela and her Posh Pebbles stall has moved on to pastures new, as has Kathy, although she now attends on Fridays and Saturdays but not Thursdays. Goldie has now had to retire since this page was first written up. Jag has also left to run a sub-post office and village store in Wales. However, his friend, Sunny, will run the stall in future assisted by Surinder and now they are running Funtastic Toys shop in Peach Street until the rebuild begins.
