Chairman’s Report

 

John Cox welcomed all teams to the meeting, and reported that the previous winter season and competitions had gone well.

 

Secretaries Report

 

Carl Hancock feedback that teams had returned results card promptly which meant that the league could be maintained up to date. Cancellations of games occurred once again during the winter season but all were played and results received in time for the league to be published before Finals night.

Carl Hancock reminded all captains to notify him of cancellations, and to provide him with the rearranged dates for these games as soon as possible.

 

Treasurers Report 

 

Mark Trollope feedback a composite financial report outlining the leagues finances. Which currently stands at £316.94, with £66 still to bank, and £200 charity still to pay. He outlined that the charities nominated by the league of Arthur Rank House and MacMillan each had received £100.

Roger Denson made an equivalent donation of the cash prizes awarded to the winners of the Charity Pairs as promised at the Summer League AGM.

 

Election of Officers  

 

Darren Cotterell secretary of the league tabled that he would be stepping down as secretary and therefore not seeking re-election, however he wished to remain part of committee.

Carl Hancock was proposed by John Warkcup for league secretary.

Dave Pigg expressed a wish to join the committee, John Warkcup seconded this proposal.

A vote to elect the officers on block was then taken and carried.

 

 

Any Other Business 

 

A debate was held by those present identifying the charity to donate the monies rose during the recent summer season that has just been completed. Three charities were proposed, The Alzheimer’s Society, East Anglian Children’s Hospital, and the Cambridge branch of the Society for the Blind. Following a vote it was agreed that the summer league charity would be the East Anglian Children’s Hospice.

A proposal was tabled that we should identify a charity ahead of the season so that people would be aware of which charity they were donating too. Following a vote this was agreed, a further vote was taken on the two remaining charities to identify one for the forthcoming winter season. Following a tied vote the chairman used his casting vote in support Cambridge Society for the Blind.

 

A discussion around the mechanism for returning of the recently replaced and updated annual trophies took place, it was agreed that in future all trophies would be returned by the Captains at the AGM for that corresponding season. For this season it was agreed that this winter league, the trophies handed out would be returned by the last game of this season.

 

Carl Hancock proposed to the floor that holding the competitions at the end of the playing season seemed to garner considerable support from the players. Carl proposed to the floor that a vote be taken on whether to move the winter league competitions to the end of the season, this was carried.

It was reported that the Charity pairs was particularly well supported following the decision to award a cash prize to the winners. A vote was taken to increase the entry fee to the charity pairs for the winter season, this was carried.

 

John Warkcup informed the AGM that he would be holding a cash prize competition every month on a Sunday, and that he would be make donations from any of the profits made to the league.  John was thanked for this offer.

 

Darren Cotterell was asked by Neil Hassall for an update on the possibility of St Ives darts league joining with the Willingham Darts league, that was muted at the last Winter league AGM. Darren reported that there had been no further discussions between the leagues. Darren will follow this conversation up with the Secretary of the St Ives League.      Action: Darren Cotterell
