Outings 2017

This year we managed three outings as our volunteer mini bus drivers met the correct criteria!

Visit one was to the falconry centre at Sheildaig Lodge Hotel. All the children and staff had a fabulous time meeting Flash the eagle owl and flying Jeanie the barn owl. It was a really memorable day.

Our second trip was to Inverewe gardens. Not only did the staff and children have a great time walking amonst the trees and plants, but we paid a visit to the newly opened Osgood MacKenzie House - well work a look. Before a picnic lunch the children raced around the lawns trying to catch dragonflies - totally unsuccessfully!

Trip three was another favourite to Big Sand Campsite playpark. Desoite the poor weather this year both the Inverewe and Big Sand trips were carried out in fabulous weather. The zip wire, submarine and basket swing were put to great use giving the children a real chance to experience a bit of risk and challenge and to support each other.

Thanks to Sheildaig Lodge Hotel, Inverewe Gardens and Big Sand Campsite for letting us visit.

Outings 2016

While we do try to organise outings during holidays, this year (2016) we have been unable to access the High School Mini bus  unfortunately. We do hope to use the school playing field and beach weather permitting!

2015

Outings of choice this year were Inverewe Gardens and Big Sand campsite (twice). Again these were great successes. The children just love the opportunity to go out on the school minibus! We also managed to have a couple of play sessions on the school playing field. All this was managed despite the really poor weather - we just picked our times well!

2014

We had our usual visit to Beinn EigheNature Reserve at Kinlochewe in July 2014. Unfortunately this time the midgies got the better of us and we had to make it a swift walk around the trails and return to the safety of the bus!

Our visit to Inverewe Gardens in Poolewe in August 2014 was a great success again and we were lucky with the weather too. As you can see the children love hiding in the plants!

We also had a fantastic trip to the Sands Holiday Centre in Gairloch (sorry - we forgot the camera that day) where we has refreshements at the lovely Barn Cafe then went on to the adventure playground with it's fantastic selection of equipment such as the zip wire and submersible which the children (and some of the staff - Kirsty!) had a ball climbing on, sliding off and making up adventure stories inside.

We will be repeating all these trips again in Summer 2015 and we'd like to thank our volunteer drivers and Gairloch High School for the use of the Mini Bus.

26/7/13

A sponsored walk was held to help raise funds for our garden area. We raised a great total of £275 (with Gift Aid still to come). Everyone had a great day out. Many thanks to all those who sponsored the children - they did really well on the walk!

19/7/13

Inverewe Gardens very kindly allowed us to visit the Gardens. Thirteen children were armed with their packed lunches and set off on the bus with four staff members and a volunteer parent. The children loved to gardens which really got their senses going. They loved the texture and smell of the plants. Near the Big House they thouroughly enjoyed a spectacular ariel display by a number of swallows flying over their heads!

3/7/13

We had our annual trip to the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve. This year we had lovely weather , but the burn was a bit dry for our game of Pooh Sticks. The midgies kindly stayed away for the day even allowing us to have our picnic in peace!
