Last weekend at Gretna Social Club saw 44 team from the far reaches of county  Moffat ,Thornhill, Stewartry, Dumfries and more down to the  Springfield on the  border and beyond as far down as Brampton , Appleby, Prospect, Wigton, Port Carlisle and places in between  from Friday nights 3 hour session and Saturday and Sunday 7 hour sessions finally whittling the 44 teams down to the last four  Springfield had two teams Wigton and Port Carlisle one each into the semi-finals  and in some very close hard games it was the home team of Jamie Johnstone, Linzi Johnstone and Alastair Ritchie  that ran out victors over the other Springfield team  skipped by Donald Johnstone, Karen Coaker and Christine Foster. Wigton skipped by Pauline Yates Beat Port Carlisle skipped by Dorothy Telfer to get into the final

In the final Wigton just could not catch the mat and  it was the home team skipped by Jamie Johnstone  that  collected the winners  cheque for £270 plus a bottle of whisky each Second was Wigton skipped  by Pauline Yates they got a prize of £120 and Half a bottle Gin each in the play of for Third it was Port Carlisle Skipped by Dorothy Telfer there  prize was £75 and a bottle of wine Each and fourth was Springfield.Gretna & District skipped by Donald Johnstone and a prize of £30 for them to share

As hosts Springfield.Gretna & District S.M.B.C would very much like to thank all of the 44 teams/clubs that took part and played the game in the manor it is supposed to be played   with friendly professional rivalry at all times
