 Super Six League

Scottish Short Mat Bowling Federation rules apply.

The following additional rules will apply for the Short Mat Super Six League.

THE LEAGUE

1. The League season will run from dates agreed prior to the start of competition.

2. The games will be played once a month on a Sunday at a designated venue.

TEAMS

1.  A club team will consist of six players plus reserves.  Only players listed on the Registration Form can play for that team.

2.  Each team to nominate a captain

3.  The Home team will supply a Marker for the singles matches.  See the draw sheet for the Home / Away teams.

4.  No team can borrow players from another team.

5.  A team playing a non-registered player or a player from another team will be deducted 2 points and the player disqualified

6.  Penalty for a team turning up short of players, 2 points deducted for each match they can’t play.

7.  Scheduled matches will be played on that date, teams unable to compete on those dates will be deducted 8 points.  This rule will be reviewed at the pre-season AGM.

8.  A team that does not turn up for a scheduled game will pay the entry fees for themselves and the opposing team.

PLAYER REGISTRATION

1.  Registration forms of the listed players to be submitted to the organiser prior to or on the first game.

2.  Once a team has submitted their team registration form no other player can be added to the form after the competition has started.

3.  Violation of rule 2 will result in 2 points being deducted from that team.

ROLE OF THE CAPTAIN/SKIP

1.  The Captain is responsible for the conduct of their team members and to report any issues to the umpire/organiser.

2.  The captain will ensure team players are wearing the appropriate dress i.e. whites /club tops with grey/black trousers, smooth soled shoes.  Any person wearing incorrect clothing will not be allowed to play.

3.  The Skip will be responsible for collecting the entry fees and handing the money to the organiser or his substitute.

4. Irrespective of how many players turn up for a team, that team will have to pay the full entry fee.

THE GAME

1.  The matches will be played on 3 mats.

2.  The matches will consist of three games’ Singles / Pairs / Triples

3.  Pairs and Triples starting at the same time.

4.  Number of bowls per game Singles and Pairs 4 Bowls, Triples 3 Bowls.

Duration of the matches

1.  Singles, 21 ends or whoever is winning after 80 minutes

2.  Pairs and Triples 80 minutes duration.

3.  During all matches, the Skips will only be allowed to inspect the head prior to playing their last bowl

4.  If the jack has been positioned for play and the alarm goes off then that end will be played.

5.  Discs will be drawn from a hat to determine which game will be played on which mat i.e. Disc 2 pulled first the singles will be played on that mat etc.

6.  A team toss of a coin will take place to determine who starts the games.

7.  No player can play in more than one match on the day.

8.  No pre match practice allowed.

SCORE CARDS

1.  The names of all team players must be printed clearly on the score cards.

3.  Score cards must be filled in with the correct score and signed by the team skips.

3.  During the singles match it’s the responsibility of the players to score their own cards

SCORING OF A GAME

1.  All shots count

2.  Two points for a win.

3.  One point for a draw.

4.  2 points for overall win (an overall win being the team with the greatest number of shots over the 3 matches played).

5.  Burnt Ends (1 shot to your opponent).  All burnt ends count as an end played.

7.  If a score board is being used it’s the responsibility of the home team to ensure the scoreboard is showing the correct score.  In the singles match it will be the responsibility of the marker to ensure the scoreboard is showing the correct score.

THE ROLE OF THE MARKER

1.  The duties of the Marker is to set up the jack, answer any questions from the players, chalk touching bowls, removal of any dead bowls from the playing area, stop a bowl entering the head after touching the central block and to mark the position of any touchers/jack in the ditch.

2.  The marker will be responsible for keeping a scoreboard, when in use up-to-date.

3.  Personnel taking ill during a match.

4.  If a member of a team takes ill during a match and can’t take any further part then the team captains and the organisers will decide the best action to resolve the situation.

If a member of a team feels unwell then medical help will be called for.  If the match can’t be continued the team captains and the organisers will decide on an amical solution to the result of the match.

DRESS CODE

Gents grey or black trousers, white collar tops or club shirts.

Ladies grey skirts or grey / black trousers, white collar tops or club shirts.

Smooth soled shoes.

MOBILE PHONES

Players are to turn off mobile phones / tablets / electronic devices whilst their game is in progress.
