Sussex Pucks on Butts BrowI was walking with Ned on Butts Brow when suddenly he stopped by a little copse. His nose pointed forward, his tail pointed backward and he raised a front paw. I went to see what he had seen and there they were. Tiny creatures enjoying a feast. "Must be Sussex Pucks", I thought. | These little figures, and accompanying greenery, are constructed by needle felting and wrapping on a wire armature using fine merino fibres, tapestry wool and fancy knitting yarn. The needle felted tree-trunk "seats" and stiffened felted mushroom are fixed to the wooden base. The figures are loose and can be moved around and posed. | | No Slow Worm this Speed FreakThis worm was inspired by a cousin involved in the motor trade with a rather unusual surname. | He is needle felted from fine merino fibres on a wire armature. His vehicle is a stuffed fabric slipper with a covered board and craft foam sole. The wheels are "fun" erasers purchased from a stationery department. | | This little dancer is built on a wrapped and needle felted wire armature. She has a cloth applique head with a hand painted and lightly needle sculpted face. Her arms and hands are poseable, she can hold her bouquet in either hand. Her stiffened felt boots are firmly glued to a weighted cork base. She measures thirteen and a half inches from base to the top of her head. | This is Gran. She is built on a needle felted and wrapped wire armature. She has a cloth head with a hand painted and lightly needle sculpted face and she wears a pair of bent wire spectacles. Gran likes to clean and she is well equipped with a needle felted feather duster and brush. Her arms and hands are poseable. Her stiffened felt boots are firmly fixed to the weighted cork base. She measures thirteen and a half inches in height. | | | | |
