Better Latte Than Never...

Greetings one and all! We all need diversions every now and then. These can bring our real (and not-so-real) interests closer to us by us (apparently) moving further away. You may think of this as a joke but it is also a genuine law of life and an interesting, rewarding and fun thing to do. Perhaps some may think that life is one big diversion anyway. In which case...
Time for a coffee!
Our (Sue and myself) favourite coffee shop is in the town of Naas (county Kildare, Ireland: pronounced 'Nays'). Sometimes our dedicated and friendly baristas get carried away and come over all arty...
...A Tulip for Spring perhaps?
More musings on 'Moving Away to Get Closer':
Other ways of describing this are: the law of mirroring, the law of opposites.
A mirror needs distance in order to reflect and hold its entire subject. This gives a new perspective and view - one that cannot be seen and understood when we are too close.
This is a common experience in art when we alternate between periods of painting or sculpting with standing back to get a perspective on the work. By moving away we become the mirror.
In fact the whole physical world can be described as a mirror world. In tarot cards the sign for the element of earth is the shield or mirror. No coincidence there...
Moving away to get closer shows us that near is within far; inner is within outer (or held within the confines of the mirror) and a seed comes from within the tree as the tree is within the seed.
We all exist with natural laws and principles whether we are aware of them or not. Conscious recognition enables us to move within these laws for development and understanding. It's fun as well. I have worked with the 'Near-Far' law for several years - particularly in relation to music. There is a fascinating - if not obvious - aspect to this which is: it works if we simply do it physically. I'll give you a musical example or mirror - always a good way to shine light onto other things:
When I am playing back a composition through the computer and stereo I find that if I literally move away into the next room or area and make no effort to listen, aspects of the composition that need work leap out at me or similarly new sections are suggested. Listening too close to the source gives too much attention to the detail and not enough to the overall shape.
If you think about it there are other more familiar and obvious examples: being apart from someone makes you feel closer to them. You may even be closer now in other ways - such as through intuition. This operates in aspects of meditation too: the inner comes into play more when the outer is absent.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder?
Time to go...
