I will use this page to keep a 'blog', with pictures, of the rambles for the 2014 season.
Old Corry - Sunday 24th March 2013
by Anthony Stringfellow - 11:16 on 28 March 2013
On Sunday 24th March after having the Glenmore Ramble Cancelled due to very cold weather, Nicola, Lucy and I met up at the shed to try out some of the new scooters. Note that there is a kettle here, with tea and coffee, mugs etc. I have also left a bottle of tap water in a 'tesco' sparkling watter bottle, use it to fill the kettle.
It was really cold but we were all kitted out with full Winter gear and cozytoes. I was on my bike and the first part went very quickly along the Elgol road to the first gate. Lucy and Nicola both took the trampers. The sun kind of went behind the clouds and the temperature dropped further, it is fairly exposed at the high point, with the wind cutting across the hill. But the views here of Beinn na Cailleach are great with the snow still on the summit and the blue sky.
Lucy was feeling a little cold by now and having some glove trouble (note: mitts might be better!). From the fork we could go along the Marble Line where I would get some nice views and pics of Blaven, but with the cold we decided to complete the Old Corry loop and get back to the sheds for some warmth. So down the hill and along to the bridge and here the sun returned. The new Trampers were fine across the bridge and it was a nice easy ride back along the single track road. Crossing the main road Nicola informed us, with a twinkle in her eye, that the exciting bit was just ahead! It was quite a path, very narrow, very overgrown and steep and a challenge indeed. The trampers handled it but not recommended for the Breeze 3 or 4. Note: take great care on this section as there is potential to unintentionally leave the path on the scooters.
The Trampers performed brilliantly, it may be it takes you a few goes to get used to the twist grip so go and try them out. The scooters and cozytoes in the shed are for all members, just phone Nicola or anyone else for the code to unlock the door before you go, and fill in the log book after you have been out. Everything else should be obvious, chargers to be connected and left on, and the order the scooters are stored should be noted too.
