June - Some pics from a recent Ramble in Trotternish:

May 17th - Our ramble to the clan went well and I hope everyone had a good day out. A report and pictures will follow, and if you have pictures you can feel free to E-mail them to me to put together on flickr, colin.threlfall@btinternet.com. Here is 1 pic until i have time to sort them all out.

MAY 2013 - Firstly the Clan Donald day out on the 16th of May is near, all the shed scooters are now booked out but if anybody else wants to come let me know.  There is a scooter we can borrow from Clan Donald so let me know as I will need to book it out now the season is underway.  If you want to come and have your own scooter which needs transporting and we will see what we can do but need to know by the weekend to get things sorted out.  We are setting off at 11am from the car park; Colin, Jenny and I are transporting scooters so will see you there.  There is a cafe or bring your own lunch with you, whatever suits you, we cant take the scooters into the restaurant but its not far to walk if we park the scooters right outside, we will have a few able-bodied with us to help out.

Secondly the AGM and meeting is on the Thursday 23rd May at the Broadford Medical centre, its on the road up to the hospital.  The AGM is at 2.30pm and the meeting straight afterwards, the meeting is to get your input and ideas etc what and where you want to do this summer with the group.  There is plenty of access and parking, hence the venue, if you are coming and need assistance from the car park let me know in advance and will arrange it for you so no excuses.  It would be good for us all to get together if at all possible.  Membership dues will need paid at the meeting, still the same £10 single or £15 joint.  We now have 4 good off-road scooters so come up with some good ideas how we can use them now the warmer weather is here.

Will let you know if anything changes
cheers
Nicola

APRIL 2013 - We finally have a date and place for our AGM, everybody has been busy so its taken a while.  It is being held at the Broadford Doctors surgery where the MS support group meets at 2 for 2.30 start till 4pm on Thursday the 23rd May.  I realise it may not suit everybody but I have done my best.  I have moved it to the surgery as the parking and facilities are more wheelchair friendly, as our numbers are grow there are a few more of us using wheelchairs to get about.  There isn't a big table there but that can be sorted out nearer the time and the space is nice and bright and cheerful.  There will be tea/coffee etc as normal and I will send out posters when I get back to advertise it.

Any problems with this date/venue please let me know but I will be away now till the end of April so dont worry if you dont get a reply.  I have attached the walk programme, I will be away in Edinburgh so a reminder that Colin is organising the next programmed walk so contact him direct please - 01471 844322.

Now the warmer weather is coming its a good time to get out on the scooters, its warm in the sunshine and no midges as yet.  Shed is all set up and all 4 scooters are ready for use even if its just taking the dog out for a walk, co-op shopping or getting around Broadford

MARCH 2013 - Our AGM is coming up and will hopefully be held in the first 2 weeks in April, I am away the second half of April so would be good to have it before I go.  Let me know if the timing doesn't suite as we need to book the room soon.  John Phillips is standing down so we need a new chairperson, the job is not very complicated now we have our funding all sorted and its mainly just chairing the meetings with a few other odds and ends.  My hope is that the group will start to grow and will not need as much input to run smoothly as our scooter fleet is complete.  I would like to thank John for all his hard work, we would not be where we are today without him.

FEBRUARY 2013 - The new scooters have arrived! Here is a copy of Nicola's E-mail:

Hi everybody

we are now the proud owners of a fleet of 4 scooters, 2 trampers and 2 Breeze.  Ewen and I have been down today and sorted the shed out so now all the chargers are wall mounted so all you need to do is turn off the socket and unplug from the scooter, it will hang down but not as far as the floor so there is no risk of driving over it.  To put back on charge connect the scooter end and turn on at the plug, make sure the scooter is switched off first, if the lights are flashing turn off and on at the plug and it will solve the problem.  If the lights are left flashing the scooter will not charge so please check before you leave the shed.

We now have a kettle and cups in the shed, I will add coffee etc next time I am down, at the moment there is tomato soup and instant cappachino's but no spoon!  If you want a cup of anything bring the water, will try and get some bottles from the coop.  The donation box is now mounted on the door, in case you cant find it.  There are spare keys for all the scooters hanging beside the appropriate charger in case one gets lost.  Please try and put the scooters back in the same order as there is not a lot of space.

There is an instruction book for the trampers on the shelf just inside the door so have a quick look before you use them.  All our scooters now have a forward and back switch so remember and check which direction you want to go in case you shoot off the wrong way!!  All the scooters have good suspension so just choose the one you fancy.

Now all you need to do is go out and have some fun and make the most of our sunshine.  Any questions or problems get in touch

cheers
Nicola  :) happy

Nov 2012 - there has been a large grant for the group from SNH and the Lottery Fund.  This money will be used for new scooters.  It is a very exciting time to get involved as there will be a new program of walks for the 2013 season with the new equipment.

The new scooters are going to be 2 Trampers and 1 breeze 4.  It is hoped to have a launch day and get some photos and publicity in Broadford sometime in the Winter, dates TBC.
