Canine Partners Talk

Club Night –

We met Ickerus a canine partner dog (a real star). Canine partners are dogs who are trained to do jobs to help disabled owners.

As Chairlady I was captivated at the bond between dog and owner, a heart-warming moment as the dog worked to deliver the owner’s needs.

He helps to undress the lady, fetch her handbag, take off shoes and socks, removing glasses and picking up her mobile phone for her. Also helps with bed making and washing and can open and shut doors. There were so many ohh’s and ahh’s from club members as they listened.

After a discussion with all the members a decision was made to sponsor a dog.

After the talk I played a game and the £1 coins donated reached our target. Our sponsored dog is a golden retriever called Scrumpy and he is currently in training.
