SHEPPERTON LADIES’ CLUB – 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Past and present members of the Shepperton Ladies’ Club, previously known as Shepperton Modern Wives, joined together on Tuesday, 24th September 2013 to celebrate 50 years of this lively club.  The club was originally set up by young mothers who wanted an evening out plus organised trips.

About 90 people came to the celebration and all enjoyed a delicious buffet, followed by specially decorated fruit and sponge cakes all prepared by members of the club.

We were entertained throughout the evening by Denny with songs we all enjoyed from classic rock and roll to country favourites.

The always popular raffle was Golden Anniversary themed and helped to raise more funds to keep the club running with its variety of activities, including speakers on all sorts of topics from travel, wildlife, local places of interest and crafts, as well as day trips and a gourmet dining group.

As well as celebrating the 50th Anniversary our Chairman, June Barnard, has been in charge for 38 years!  She received a much-deserved Civic Award in 2007 for services to the local community.
