Trip to Glastonbury and Wells

by Unknown - 11:36 on 14 August 2014

We had a great showcase trip on Aug 6th to Glastonbury and Wells. We journeyed down to Somerset to Glastonbury taking in the beautiful countryside, golden fields with corn already being gathered in.

With a clear day and stunning countryside views over the hills.

We arrived in Glastonbury and had coffee and pastries in the 14th Century Inn unspoilt by time.

Our blue badge guide was really good and gave a short talk on Glastonbury. We would have loved more time to discover the mysterious town.

We then had an interesting journey over the Somerset Levels on to the Hotel overlooking the Mendip Hills, not far from Cheddar Gorge. We had an excellent lunch in a beautiful spot. We then had coffee on the sundrenched terrace, taking in the breathtaking views on a perfect day.

Back on coach and off on a short journey to Wells, the smallest city in England.

We had time to visit the Catherdral and Vicar Street - a medieval street - it was like going back in time.

Wednesday is Market Day and is worth a visit.

We all said how it would be a great place for a weekend break or more.

Back on the coach we were all very happy with our day. For many people on the trip it was their first visit to the area.

It could not fail to please, our Somerset taster day.
