GALAS
2025 GALA DATES Friendly Gala: 8th June at Sale, Manchester. Regional Gala: 6th September at Ellesmere Port. National Gala: 25th October at South Wales HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2024 Seahorse swimmers, Annabelle Marriott and Heidi Tomkinson, were crowned national champions at the Halliwick National Gala at Crewe's Lifestyle Centre on 19th October 2024. Annabelle won a gold medal in the Girl’s 50 metre race and Heidi won a gold medal in the Girl's 100 metre race. Bronze medals were won by Seahorse swimmers, Neil Jones in the Men's 50 metre race, and Carson Bruce in the Men’s 100 metre race. The four Seahorse swimmers were representing the North West region, who came second place overall, to the South Wales region - a repeat of last year. It was the first time in Seahorse's long history for them to host the national gala, and it was made special with the attendance of Crewe and Nantwich Member of Parliamenet, Connor Naismith, and the Mayor of Crewe Town Council, Dawn Clark, who accompanied Halliwick AST Chairman, William Wyatt, to present medals and trophies to the competitors. Seahorse swimmers with William Wyatt (Halliwick AST Chairman) HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2024 Seahorse competed against Sailfin (Sale) and Aquadis (Ellesmere Port) at the North West Regional Gala at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village on 21st September. Seahorse swimmers Annabelle Marriott, Heidi Tomkinson, Carson Bruce and Neil Jones won gold medals, and will now represent the N.W. Region at the National Championships on 19th October at Crewe's Lifestyle Centre. Sailfin SC narrowly won the contest by one point above Seahorse SC, with Aquadis SC coming a close third. HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2023 Two Seahorse swimmers, who represented the North West, were crowned national champions at the Halliwick National Gala at Enfield, North London, on 28th October 2023. Eva Yoxall won a gold medal in the Girl’s 25 metre race and Edward Taylor won a gold medal in the Boy’s 25 metre race. Silver medals were won by Seahorse swimmers, Annabelle Marriott in the Girl’s 50 metre race, Heidi Tomkinson in the Girl’s 100 metre race and Ethan Carroll in the Men’s 50 metre race. The North West Junior Relay team were also among the medals with Annabelle Marriott, Miles Starkey, Eva Yoxall and Heidi Tomkinson winning silver medals. Carroll HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2023 Seahorse competed against swimmers from Sailfin (Sale) and Aquadis (Ellesmere Port) at the North West Regional Halliwick Gala, which took place at the Lifestyle Centre, Crewe, on 2nd September. Seahorse swimmers Edward Taylor, Annabelle Marriott, Heidi Tomkinson, Zak Beeston and Ethan Carroll won gold medals and will now represent the N.W. Seahorse’s Zac Beeston was crowned national champion in two events - the Men’s 25 metre race and in the League Relay race alongside his colleagues Matthew Roberts and Sean Savage. Silver medals were won by Annabelle Marriott in the Girl’s 50 metre race and by Heidi Tomkinson in the Girl’s 100 metre race. Seahorse’s Josh Brough, Carson Bruce, Oliver Daly and David Troop won bronze medals in the Men’s Senior Relay race. It was three years since the last Halliwick national championship was held due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the event marked 70 years since Halliwick was formed in 1952. Seahorse swimmers at the National Gala at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2022 The N.W. Regional Gala took place at Crewe's Lifestyle Centre on 3rd September with three Clubs taking part - Seahorse, Sailfin (Sale) and Aquadis (Ellesmere Port). Seahorse won 14 medals (11 gold and 3 silver) and retained the Frank Hough trophy as overall winners. HALLIWICK GALAS 2020 & 2021 Sadly the 2020 and 2021 regional and national galas were cancelled due to COVID 19. HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2019 Congratulations to the Seahorse swimmers who represented the North West at the Halliwick Nationals in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, on 19th October. Erin Yoxall came away with a bronze medal in the Girls 100m race and she was also part of the Junior Relay team alongside Zac Beeston, Ethan Carroll and Annabelle Marriott who won gold. HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2018 Well done to everyone who represented the North West at the Halliwick Nationals at Sevenoaks, Kent, on 20th October. HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2017 Congratulations to all Seahorse swimmers who took part in the Halliwick National Gala at Southgate, London, on 14th October. They were part of the North West team with swimmers from Sailfin (Sale) and Aquadis (Ellesmere Port). The medal tally won by the North West was seven – two gold and five bronze. HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2016 Congratulations to Seahorse swimmer Alicia Thelwell, who won a gold medal in the Girls 50m race at the Halliwick National Gala in Southgate, London on 15th October. WEST FRIENDLY GALA OCTOBER 2016 Seahorse came second place at the friendly gala at Sale on 2nd October, as they prepared for the Halliwick National Gala to be held on 15th October at Southgate, London. Aquadis Swimming Club (Ellesmere Port) and Sailfin (Sale) were their opponents. HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2016 Seahorse Swimming Club crowned their first ever Halliwick Gala at the new Lifestyle Centre on 3rd September 2016 as overall winners. Seahorse gained most points to retain the Frank Hough Trophy as they competed against Aquadis Swimming Club (Ellesmere Port) and Sailfin (Sale). The Seahorse team won 20 medals between them - nine gold, seven silver and four bronze. The Deputy Mayor of Crewe Town Council, Councillor Diane Yates, presented the medals and trophies to the successful swimmers and she congratulated all swimmers for their efforts and hard work. She was thrilled to see the competitive edge among the swimmers and she praised the Lifestyle Centre staff and the volunteers from all three clubs for giving the swimmers the opportunity to compete at the gala. HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2015 Erin Yoxall and Hollie Cooke came away as silver medal winners from the Halliwick National Gala at Hull on 17th October 2015. They swam as part of the HASTRA 8 team (North West) that competed against some of the best disabled swimmers in the UK. Erin and Hollie and seven other Seahorse members qualified for the finals after winning their regional heats last month. "The Club is very proud of all the swimmers and it was pleasing to see Erin (Girls 50m) and Hollie (Girls 100m) among the medal winners. The standard is very high in the national championships and the swimmers gained a great deal from taking part. They always give their best when competing. HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2015 Another successful gala was held on 26th September 2015 at Crewe Swimming Pool as Seahorse was crowned overall winners of the Halliwick Regional Gala (Region 8). They came up against their rivals from Aquadis and Sailfin Swimming Clubs to win the Frank Hough Trophy. Seahorse came away as overall winners with seven gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze medal. This was an excellent performance by Seahorse who are now preparing for the Halliwick Regional Gala at Crewe in September. HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2014 Congratulatons to all Seahorse swimmers who competed at the Halliwick National Gala in Sevenoaks, Kent on the 18th October, when they represented the North West as part of the Halliwick ASTRA 8 team. The Regional team, with swimmers from Seahorse, Sailfin (Sale) and Aquadis (Ellesmere Port) Swimming Clubs was third overall, winning 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. The long journey to Kent was well worth it. HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2014 Seahorse were overall winners in the Regional Gala held at Crewe Baths on 27th September. The event saw Seahorse competing against swimmers from Sailfin (Sale) and Aquadis (Ellesmere Port), which turned out to be a close contest. Cheshire East Council's Deputy Mayor, Councillor Hilda Gaddum presented the medals and trophies to the winners. She was pleased to attend the gala and thrilled to see the swimmers competing with so much determination and enthusiasm. She congratulated everyone who took part, and praised the event organisers and officials from the clubs for their work. Four newcommers, Rosie Borowski, Hollie Cooke, Colette Tyre and Erin Yoxall represented Seahorse and it was pleasing that they performed so well. Other swimmers representing the Club were: Shea Dutton, Paul Edwards, Sam Foster, Jonathon Harrison, Neil Jones, Sean Savage and Ben Triner. The Club came home with eight gold and two bronze medals - a fantastic acievement! Seahorse Chairman, Rob Dutton said: "It was a great performance by all and it was especially good to see the newcomers doing so well." HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2013 Congratulations to members of Seahorse who came away from the Halliwick National Swimming Championships held on 19th October as joint overall winners with the Yorkshire region. They were part of a regional team under the name of HASTRA 8 (with Aquadis of Ellesmere Port and Sailfin of Sale) competing in Southgate, London. They also won the Frank Hough trophy as overall winners, with competition from Sailfin Swimming Club, Sale and Aquadis Swimming Club, Ellesmere Port. The competition included junior and senior relay, 25m, 50m and 100m races for girls and boys. Representing Seahorse was: Shea Dutton, Paul Edwards, Sam Foster, Amy Halfpenny, Brandon Halfpenny, Jonathan Harrison, Neil Jones, Andrew Mulliner, Sean Savage, Jenny Tarry and Ben Triner. Seahorse Committee Member, Rob Dutton said: “Members of Seahorse gave a great account of themselves as they won so many medals and they were proud to come away as overall winners. The team are now preparing themselves for the Halliwick National Gala in London on 19th October.” FRIENDLY GALA AT SALE 2013 Seahorse competed in a swimming gala at Sale, Manchester, on 23rd June and came away with a number of medals - 6 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze. Well done to everyone who took part. HALLIWICK NATIONAL GALA 2012 On Saturday 20th October, Seahorse members Ben Triner, Andrew Mulliner, Neil Jones, Jonathan Harrison, Paul Edwards, Jenny Tarry and Amy Halfpenny joined forces for the day with members of Sailfin and Aquadis swimming clubs. They took the long journey to the Ennerdale Leisure Centre, Hull, to swim in the ‘Halliwick National Championships’ under the team name HASTRA 8 (North West). Team HASTRA 8 would be competing against three other teams consisting of swimmers from all over the country. Terry Edwards of Seahorse Swimming Club said, “Seahorse swimmers had an exceedingly good swim, Amy Halfpenny, Jenny Tarry and Ben Triner won gold medals together with their Championship Cups. The remaining Seahorse swimmers won 2 Silver and 5 Bronze medals between them and at the end of the day team HASTRA 8 finished up a very respectable third place.” A big thanks to all the swimmers for their hard efforts and thank you to all those involved in organising a long but very enjoyable day at the Ennerdale Leisure Centre, Hull. HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2012 On Saturday 8th September, a team of swimmers from Seahorse Swimming Club travelled to Ellesmere Port Leisure Centre, to take part in The Halliwick Regional Gala. SWIMMING GALAS 2011 Seahorse Swimming Club continued to be successful during 2011 with several swimmers competing in the Halliwick Regional and National Galas. Seahorse hosted the regional gala at Crewe's Flag Lane Baths and the Mayor of Crewe, Councillor Roy Cartlidge, congratulated all the swimmers who took part and presented medals and trophies to the successful swimmers.

Seahorse medal winners: Girls 25m (bronze) - Amy Halfpenny Boys 50m (silver) - Brandon Halfpenny Girls 50m (gold) - Hollie Foster Girls 100m (gold) - Amy Halfpenny Mens 100m (bronze) - Jonathan Harrison Jr Relay (silver) HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2010 Ten Seahorse swimmers qualified for the national finals in Hull after they all came away from the Regional Gala at Ellesmere Port with at least one gold medal each. Connor Moulton, Neil Jones, Andrew Mulliner, Jenny Tarry, Amy Halfpenny, Jonathan Harrison, Ben Triner, Brandon Halfpenny, Hollie Foster and Paul Edwards were all successful and now look forward to competing in the nationals. HALLIWICK REGIONAL GALA 2009 Seahorse won 21 medals - 11 of which were gold, at the Regional Gala at Sale. Gold medal winners who qualified for the national finals in Pontypridd, South Wales were: Paul Edwards, Amy Halfpenny, Jonathan Harrison, Jamie Hinde, Neil Jones, Connor Moulton, Andrew Mulliner and Ben Triner. Brandon Halfpenny, Hollie Foster, Macauley Owen and Jenny Tarry also won medals at the event.
